Covid19 Impact on Employment
Given the current circumstances with Covid19 many of us find ourselves not working. Whether you have been made redundant or temporarily let go, it is a good time to take stock in terms of where you are in your career. Are you happy working in your current job? Did you feel fulfilled and challenged while you were working?
Whether the answer to this is yes or no you have options in terms of changing career or upskilling to improve your CV. If you have ever thought that you would love to get back to education to change your career trajectory or to study for your own personal development, now is a great time to do so. With so many courses available online you can learn in your own time.
Back to Education Options
If you just want to dip your toe into learning a new skill or exploring a new field of study coursera is a great website for some short courses, many of which are free and conducted by lecturers from well known international universities like Yale! Udemy is another great resource for short term courses run by experts in their fields and the site has been offering some great deals on course fees as of late. If you have a L8 Degree behind you but are thinking of changing career into the IT field checkout Springboard to see if you are eligible for their conversion courses. If you never really partook in third level education but would like to earn your degree many of the third level institutions such as DCU, TUD and or Sligo IT have part time, blended and online courses available.
When looking at long term courses review the entry requirements, modules and career options to ensure it is the right course for you. For short term courses think to yourself how will this serve me for future roles or is it a good addition to my CV relevant to my career path. If it is a case that you just want to study to occupy your time or out of personal interest that is as good an answer as any. The investment of time and finances into furthering your education no matter how big or small is always worthwhile.
